These two works are image compositions created through the repetitive arrangement and extension of stainless steel kitchenware. The oppressive visual effect produced by repetition recalls the artist’s experience of working in a restaurant kitchen. The neatly aligned utensils fragment the field she occupied into a grid, mapping a temporary territory shaped by displacement and migration.
In Now, the viewpoint is directed downward, revealing a confined field of vision that reflects the limitations of perception and the boundaries of the artist’s immediate surroundings. In Now and Future, the perspective shifts diagonally, allowing the grid to extend indefinitely. This infinite expansion responds to the uncertainty of the future and the sense of helplessness brought about by repetitive labor.
